Finding a good duct cleaning company doesn't have to be a hassle. I've been through this process myself, and here are some tips that worked for me:-
- Ask around: Friends, family, and coworkers might have recommendations. I got a great lead from my neighbor who had her ducts cleaned last year. Also, put the keyword like “ Air duct cleaning near me”.
- Check online reviews: Look up companies on Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau. But take reviews with a grain of salt - I focus more on how companies respond to negative feedback.

- Get multiple quotes: I called three different companies and got estimates. This helped me gauge the average price and services offered.
- Ask about their process: A reputable company should be able to explain their cleaning method clearly. The one I chose walked me through the whole procedure.
- Check for certifications: Look for companies certified by NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association). It's not a must, but it's a good sign.
- Beware of super low prices: If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I almost fell for a suspiciously cheap offer until I read the fine print.
- Trust your gut: When the technician came for an inspection, I got a good vibe. Sometimes your instinct can be your best guide.
Remember, a little research goes a long way. Don't rush the process, and you'll likely find a reliable company to get the job done right.
Air ducts are vital to a home’s indoor air quality. They are used by the HVAC system to transmit air and ventilation throughout the home. But from time to time, ducts get clogged with all sorts of dirt, mold, bacteria, pollen and other particles. Inevitably these particles get disseminated throughout the home by the AC unit and can cause all manner of respiratory ailments if inhaled for prolonged periods.
Researchers and other health experts have link dirty air ducts to common allergy symptoms like coughing, sneezing, wheezing, stuffy nose, watery eyes, headaches and other respiratory maladies.

People who are immuno-compromised can experience a worsening of their condition. All this due to poor indoor air quality.
Some people are tempted to clean their own air ducts. This is not recommended because of the following:
- Air ducts can contain contaminants that are dangerous to one’s health. These should never be handled without proper training, protective gear and equipment.
- Without proper training and air duct cleaning procedures, one can cause even more damage to the air ducts. This can translate into more expensive repairs down the road.
- An amateur can introduce even more dirt into the air ducts
This is why it is recommended that one choose a reputable and licensed air duct cleaner such as Air Quality Express.

I started by searching online for air duct cleaning services in my area. Initially, I was overwhelmed by the number of options that popped up. It seemed like everyone was offering duct cleaning services! I quickly learned the trick - sifting through customer comments and scores became my first step every time. Plus, making a point to see they were legitimate with all the necessary paperwork made me feel comfortable about hiring a true professional. A bit of Googling plus asking around led me to hire a fantastic crew who got my ventilation system spotless. The team was top-notch and seriously improved the breathing space in my place! So, to answer your question, finding an air duct cleaning professional can be relatively easy if you know what to look for and do your due diligence!
Taking it slow and exploring your options beats rushing into the first one. Ask for recommendations from friends or family members, read reviews from past customers, and don't hesitate to ask questions about the cleaning process and equipment used. A little bit of effort upfront can save you from headaches and ensure you get top-notch service for your home's air ducts.

I get a lot of calls to fix other contractors messes. I have never gotten a call to fix ducts destroyed by cleaning companies. Not saying it doesn’t happen but I have just not come across it. Usually the problem is more that they don’t really even clean the ducts. They may clean the recister boxes and blower compartment and leave the rest. Usually ducts don’t really need cleaning in the first place and if they do you should determine the cause and fix it, usually a poor fitting filter. Duct cleaning does take a bit of a gentle touch and a knowledgeable operator to know how aggressive they can

Duct cleaning does take a bit of a gentle touch and a knowledgeable operator to know how aggressive they can get so I am a little surprised I haven't gotten a call or two. Metal ducts that are properly secured can take a lot of abuse. Flex ducts need special soft brushes and fiberglass ducts I don’t like to even touch with brushes. Some duct systems were not installed well in the first place and just touching them can destroy them. Before I quote a job I assess the condition of the ducts and advise the home owner what they can expect when I am done.
That’s a tricky question. Here’s an HVAC professional’s “Opinion”.
More often than not the cleaning process damages the duct system, not in all cases, but enough to raise concerns. There are two processes for “Cleaning Ducts”.
- Rotobrush, a large shop-vac on wheels that has a rotating bristle brush on the business end that breaks up the particulates so that the vacuum portion can pick it up and process it through a HEPA filter. It can fit down most ducts but has a three inch hose which makes running it down the duct system difficult, particularly through turns. that’s usually where the damage occ

It can fit down most ducts but has a three inch hose which makes running it down the duct system difficult, particularly through turns. that’s usually where the damage occurs. If it’s WIre Flex duct material, the polypropylene material that makes up the duct itself is thin, it’s the wire helix that gives it shape and some rigidity. the brush can punch through that fairly easily. If you have all metal (KD Pipe) duct material it can stand up to this cleaning process much better than the wireflex ducting, the caveat being if there were no mechanical fasteners (Screws) used during installation, and the whole thing is held together with Duct tape and bailing wire. (That’s the way we used to do it back in the day) then the process will knock segments off of the duct line and now you have a big leak and likely no air getting into a room or zone. Other than that the machine does a pretty good job of cleaning the ducts.
- High Pressure Sweep, usually a truck mounted system that has a large vacuum mounted on a truck that when activated, inflates a series of elongated dust traps that stick out of the top of the truck bed like a Macy’s parade balloon. The process is; to cut a hole into the Supply plenum or even the equipment itself. from there you attach the vacuum hose to the system. Turn on the vacuum and pull the duct system down into a very strong Negative Pressure. Now the high pressure sweep comes into play. Connected to an air compressor, you feed the 1/2″ diameter air hose down each of the duct runs through the registers (after removing the grills), at the end of the hose is a rotating turbulator, the air pressure causes this to spin, the spinning high pressure stream of air breaks up the particulates and it all gets sucked back to the truck outside. Sounds pretty cool Huh? it’s fun to observe, and it does do a great job. But this is the most invasive of the processes, I don’t know that there are any companies remaining in my area that perform this process. It will drill right through wire flex and blow the metal ducting apart.
Now for the kicker, many of these duct cleaning companies also Replace Duct work. Isn’t that convenient. I can’t tell you how many times a customer inquires about this service which we don’t provide, and then tell us that the company that they had come over to give an estimate, tells them, “Nope, Can’t be done, but we can replace the duct system for you. They don’t want to be on the hook for any damage either. I seriously doubt that these companies will perform the required ACCA manual “D” duct design calculations and modeling to replace the duct system correctly, but it could be possible.
The fact is, if the ducts weren’t leaking they wouldn’t pull in dust and dirt from the attic or crawl space, also if the filter is replaced on a regular basis “monthly”, that would also mitigate the dust and dirt in the duct system. Stay away from the $20.00 filters at the home centers, they do more to stop the air flow than the dust and dirt. Seriously, no joke, don’t believe the hype, buy those $1.00 filters that you can read the newspaper through, just replace it frequently. Your HVAC system will thank you for it. and so will your energy bill.
Rather than calling a duct cleaning company, call a reputable HVAC contractor that can perform the HERS duct leakage test procedure. fix the leaks in the duct system and seal the register boots to the building so that it can not bypass. If it’s leaking past 40%, it might be better to just replace the duct system and start over from scratch. ALso, Devices like “Air Scrubber+” can also help keep the air and the duct system clean.
You will have to be the judge and weigh the differences. I can only give you my opinion based on my experiences.
Good luck.
I use Washington and Sons. I’m not sure if they are 24 hour but I’ve not come across a 24 hour AC company that’s very reliable. They will give you a window when they will be there. It’s a window of time. All AC companies, plumbers, electricians go by this standard.
They are honest and dependable. My family has used them since the dad was alive and my parents were alive so over 20+ years. They were small but have grown. Please be kind when calling any AC group, this is Texas and it’s hot and everyone wants everything NOW. That’s not how it works so be considerate and offer a glass of water wit

That’s not how it works so be considerate and offer a glass of water with ice some conversation about what’s going on and be patient and grateful. If you’re boiling hot the person fixing the problem feels like they’ve been in a volcano all day everyday. I believe in kindness and curtesy. Being nice to everyone and letting people know you appreciate them and the job they are doing for you. Remember the heat in Texas can kill so always have your units checked out twice a year and by doing this you should find any potential problems and solve them before they become problems. 😊

I like Northland in Spring, the owner has been out on some calls to me. He gave the costs and options and I’ve never had him try sell me on something not required. All the “majors” have tried and sometimes succeed in ripping me off on price or what the actual problems were. FWIW.
Very easy. Do a Google search on the topic, include your city, state and country (in quotation marks so that Google knows it as one statement).
For example “air duct cleaning” “Paris TX”
There are many review sites, such as Angie’s in the US, etc.
Or I guess you can use “Friendly Biz” in New York - right?
First of all, I would recommend Google search for Air Duct Cleaning Company + your city. Read the reviews and make sure they appear legit.
If you live in Columbus, Ohio (or within Franklin County, Delaware County and Union County areas), then I would recommend Pringles Inc. for air duct cleaning.
Pringles, Inc.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency urges you to read this document in it entirety as it provides important information on the subject. Duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. Neither do studies conclusively demonstrate that particle levels in homes increase because of dirty air ducts.
This is because much of the dirt in air ducts adheres to duct surfaces and does not necessarily enter the living space. It is important to keep in mind that dirty air ducts are only one of many possible sources of particles that are present in homes. Pollutants that enter the home both from outdoors and indoor activities such as cooking, cleaning, smoking, or just moving around can cause greater exposure to contaminants than dirty air ducts. Moreover, there is no evidence that a light amount of household dust or other particulate matter in air ducts poses any risk to your health. You should consider having the air ducts in your home cleaned if.
checkmark There is substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts or on other components of your heating and cooling system. There are several important points to understand concerning mold detection in heating and cooling systems: Many sections of your heating and cooling system may not be accessible for a visible inspection, so ask the service provider to show you any mold they say exists.
You should be aware that although a substance may look like mold, a positive determination of whether it is mold or not can be made only by an expert and may require laboratory analysis for final confirmation. For about $50, some microbiology laboratories can tell you whether a sample sent to them on a clear strip of sticky household tape is mold or simply a substance that resembles it. If you have insulated air ducts and the insulation gets wet or moldy it cannot be effectively cleaned and should be removed and replaced.
If the conditions causing the mold growth in the first place are not corrected, mold growth will recur. checkmark Ducts are infested with vermin, rodents or insects. checkmark Ducts are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.
If any of the conditions identified above exists, it usually suggests one or more underlying causes. Prior to any cleaning, retrofitting, or replacing of your ducts, the cause or causes must be corrected or else the problem will likely recur. Some research suggests that cleaning heating and cooling system components cooling coils, fans and heat exchangers may improve the efficiency of your system, resulting in a longer operating life, as well as some energy and maintenance cost savings. However, little evidence exists that cleaning only the ducts will improve the efficiency of the system.
You may consider having your air ducts cleaned simply because it seems logical that air ducts will get dirty over time and should be occasionally cleaned. Provided that the cleaning is done properly, no evidence suggests that such cleaning would be detrimental. EPA does not recommend that the air ducts as home products be cleaned routinely, but only as needed. EPA does, however, recommend that if you have a fuel burning furnace, stove or fireplace, they be inspected for proper functioning and serviced before each heating season to protect against carbon monoxide poisoning.

As far as cleaning your ducts, a shop vac and a brush will get anything you can reach. For the rest of the ducts that will take specialized equipment. The only method that works is the push pull method. At one end a giant vacuum is hooked up. It pulls at least 20 times the amount of air a shop vac can. At the other end rotating brushes and compressed air are fed through the ducts. Usually multiple entry points are required depending on the layout of the duct system. Keep in mind that even the best duct cleaning will not get it clean enough to eat off of, there will still be some dust left. The parts that can be seen and reached should be very clean though.

Air duct cleaning consists of thoroughly removing the buildup of dust, debris, and other contaminants from your home or commercial building’s ventilation system.
The air ducts are responsible for circulating air throughout your vents in order to heat or cool it before entering the room. In order to properly clean the system, all components must be addressed which typically involves the following tasks: inspecting all accessible lines with specialized video equipment; brushing off any accumulation on registers; vacuuming out dirt and debris; conditioning refrigerant line insulation if applicable; sealing any missed connections at seams using special mastic foam or sealant tape where necessary; monitoring temperature drops along duct runs; performing measurements after completion (i.e., static pressure); replacing filters as needed per manufacturer's recommendation; disposing of collected waste material according to local laws/regulations/guidelines – both inside/outside units, etc.
